Good NY Steak, loved the chimichurri. Tasty guacamole (just wish the chips had come with the order), get the good cilantro rice to go with the steak.

Vamos a la Playa: Inspired Mexican cuisine in Mill Valley. Great cocktails can soften a lot of missteps, but even without the effects of Tequila, it is clear that the food at PLAYA is excellent, bolstered by the refined service and atmosphere. Read full review.Michael Bauer, San Francisco Chronicle
PLAYA, the latest addition to Mill Valley's dining scene, has been generating plenty of buzz. Housed in a historic building, PLAYA's eye-catching modern décor—think giant teardrop pendant lights, azure walls and a geometric tile floor—blends with the building's original architectural details such as exposed bricks and beams. An inviting outdoor deck is also festive, with orange umbrellas and a colorful mural. Executive chef Omar Huerta's light, contemporary Mexican food is fresh and diverse. Chef Omar Huerta showcases Mexican culinary creativity at PLAYA. THROCKMORTON AVENUE’S NEWEST restaurant is striking for a number of reasons. PLAYA’s modern indoor-outdoor space features both a colossal mural by Zio Ziegler and, from the kitchen, a blend of technique, ingredients and presentation that highlight the malleability of Mexican cuisine. I’m not sure whether to go to PLAYA in Mill Valley for the margaritas or the food. Fortunately no one really has to make that decision because both are so good. Read full review.Michael Bauer, SF Gate

I have been fortunate enough to visit PLAYA four times since it opened two months ago, not just to gain a broad enough impression to write a cogent review but also because it’s an enjoyable place to be. It is spirited and friendly, and brings innovation to the Marin dining scene. Read full review.Leanne Battelle, Marin IJ correspondent

What a fun and cute place (both the inside and outside)! For dinner we shared the hamachi crudo (fresh, lovely in color), the carne asada tacos, and the al pastor tacos. The al pastor was bliss, very, VERY tasty. The pork had the perfect amount of crisp and chard-ness. Peds P./ Yelp
Great atmosphere. Even better service. The food was great but I've still had better Mexican food so I knocked off a start for that. There drink selection was very nice as well.... Gabriella K / Google Review July 2019
Everything was great! Grilled octopus tacos and oxtails in a delicious mole sauce were the highlights of our meal. The great part about our 'first visit' is that we ordered things we wouldn't ordinarily have anywhere else....juliec888/ Trip Advisor
Great Mexican food in downtown Mill Valley. Outdoor seating that accommodates dogs and is pleasant even if the sun isn't cookin'! If you like hot and spicy, you should give their hot salsa a try - so good!M Taylor / Google Review
What an upgrade for Mill Valley -authentic Mexican with a modern vibe! We love Joe's Taco Lounge and Grilly's but this is a whole different deal. The decor, service and amazing food along with their gorgeous deck set under the redwoods has quickly made it our favorite spot! ...C. M. / Yelp
